A native of Irvine, California, John William "Will" Ferrell was born on July 16, 1967.  A son to an elementary school teacher and a member of The Righteous Brothers musical group, Ferrell spent his early life swearing away many of the things that would later bring him success. When he was only 8 years old, due to his father's frequent absences for long periods of time, Will decided he never wanted a career in show business.

Comedy came naturally to Ferrell though. Even as a youngster, he performed skits and sketches over the school intercom in his senior year of high school. He wrote his own material and somehow even got his high school principal's blessing. He won "Best Personality" in high school in an award voted on by his classmates, so even as a young man he was clearly both funny and popular.

Ferrell was known for streaking around his college campus, the University of Southern California, where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, which perhaps was foreshadowing for one of his future roles. Later in his life, he'd portray a fraternity brother with a classic streaking scene in the film Old School.

In 1995, Ferrell became a feature cast member of Saturday Night Live, during a year when the show was undergoing significant recasting. It was not a successful year for him, and at the time he was actually one of the least liked cast members. Ferrell, though, fortunately had thick skin and stuck it out, and over time he went on to become one of the show's favorites. His famous impersonations were particularly popular with SNL fans, and he ended up staying with the show for seven years.  He was nominated for an Emmy for his impersonation of George W. Bush, and is one of the few cast members to have ever received a nomination for a performance on SNL.

After leaving Saturday Night Live, Ferrell pursued a very successful career in feature films, and many believe this is really when he fulfilled his potential as a comedian and entertainer. He's starred in numerous critically acclaimed and wildly popular comedies, including Anchorman, Old School, Step Brothers, and Talladega Nights.

He currently lives in L.A. with his wife, and continues to please audiences everywhere with his commitment to making people laugh.
